I can't belieeeeeeeve that after the latest health scares regarding
Aspartame (aka Nutrasweet), the health departments are saying
that it is SAFE!
It is widely acknowledged to be UNSAFE and its use is prohibited
in various countries. The company that manufactured it in America
- Monsanto - has dozens of lawsuits hanging over it - probably
hundreds by now. It is widely known to cause brain haemorrhages
in people who have an intolerance to it (judged at around 1 per
250,000). For those that have this intolerance, the effects can
be fatal, or maiming. Brain haemorrhages can leave you paralysed
and cause PVS - Persistent Vegetative State.
Many doctors will not allow any products with Aspartame into their
homes.
Its continued use is political. It's 250 times sweeter than sugar,
so is cheaper to transport and store. If it were only in 'diet'
products, the people who knowingly have an intolerance to it could
avoid it - but it's in all sorts of foods, even in some low-cost
savoury brands of food such as tomato sauce, baked beans etc.
In the UK, the packaging on ALL products that contain Aspartame
must carry a warning. "This product contains a source of
phenylalanine". Sometimes the warning could be almost larger
than the packaging - such as on packs of chewing gum. The print
is therefore very small. In Europe the labelling is not so strict
- therefore it's impossible to know what foods/drinks contain
Aspartame.
How dare they tell us that it's SAFE!!! It f&^&%ckin well
is NOT!!!
p.s I have an intolerance to Aspartame - you might have realised
from this outburst! When it was introduced into Britain in 1982/83
I had what the doctors thought was meningitis, but it turned out
to be a brain haemorrhage. Luckily it was in a part of my brain
that I didn't use, (hah!) so it wasn't fatal. The symptoms are
like a very very very very very very very very very very very
very very very bad migraine. I even thought I had a brain tumour
cos the pain was so bad. But people feed this stuff to their kids
as an alternative to sugar, because they aren't told it's bad
for them! If you don't have an intolerance to it, it's fine, but....
if you do - it can be fatal, or it can maim you for life.
I get so f&^&%ckin angry when they say it's safe!!!!
And if you don't believe me..... go HERE
